Shapes

Winter Solstice Festival was like 3 days ago, on 21st Dec. It feels alil weird that I am not at home this year.

I used to be up in the morning helping mum making 'tang yuen'. Mum and I would compete with each other, who would roll the glutinous rice dough the fastest. Mum's is always smaller and rounder, looks more presentable too. Once the 'tang yuen' is ready, we prepare for the prayers.

This was one of my favourite celebration.

One - yummy tang yuen (with PEANUTS, sometimes) fillings
Two - fooood (especially steamed chicken and homemade tumbuk-chilli)
Three - family dinner at home

Earlier today, I made 'tang yuen' soup with sugar, ginger and vanilla essence. I think the soup turn out rather yummy. Or I was just feeling hungry. Or I was bias. The shape of the 'tang yuen' was, not round. LOL. Its always about the taste and not the outlook right?

Half of the 'tang yuen' fillings was Nutella. If only there's nuts for the fillings.

Why was it so late for me to only have the chance to eat tong yuen today ? No reason really.

------- Probably a turkey dish 3 days later (after Xmas). LOL. 

Grammar

2 months ago, I took the DSH course entrance test.

2 months later, I took an exam for the Deutsch Grammar Intensive course I attended. 


Despite from the crazy pain from the cramp, I still went for the exam I was not obligated to. So proud of myself :) 

It couldn't have been possible without care from Mr J. He did so much to lighten the pain I was enduring. After 2-3 hours of rest, it went away and I was fit to take the exam. 

The exam wasn't that tough but I know what I am still weak in and should work harder on that few points. 
Yes, I am more motivated than ever to learn the Deutsch grammar and getting it right. 

Sense of accomplishment, when I was re-reading my Grammar book again. I understand what the book says and could correct myself from 2.2 months ago. LOL.  
2.2 months ago, I was struggling to understand and reading it. Now, it feels right.

I was talking to Alv . As we walk at the corridor, he was nom-ing on his chocolate bar. Just one last bite before the chocolate was finished, it fell to the ground. I can't remember what my question was, but Alv was replying with some hand gestures and it happened. I. Feel. Bad. 

Then, it was Mal's. She offered me chocolate but I said "thank you, its ok".
As she walked towards the window, a part of the chocolate fell. Ugh. 
Alv was laughing upon see-ing this, its like a replay from his.

Coincidence?
I hope so.

Elo Winter

It is official, it is here. 

The winter is so pretty. I think Winter is more beautiful than Autumn. 

Weather goddess in Nürnberg has her own mind. On Thursday, as I look out from the window during class, there was SNOW STORM! 

At 12pm, it looked so gloomy, cold and windy outside.

I, was contemplating and scared about going home with that kind of weather. 

The picture above you see, were taken at 2pm. Yeah, the storm was here to frighten my lil heart for 1 hour and it succeeded. 

You know, the weather here in Nürnberg is unpredictable. 

One day, the whole roof is coated with snow. The next, there is no sign of snow on the roof. Then, it could just rain the whole day. Next, sun and alil warmth. Gosh! 

I hope weather goddess will be considerate this time around and have mercy on me.

It feels super good to see dad and his smile again. I think its been almost a month since I saw dad via Skype. 

Oh, I miss home. And my ever caring family.

Glühwein

It was my first time at the famous Christkindlesmarkt today. The market was a lil small and not as pretty as I expected it to be. Not much of interesting stalls were opened, and too little stalls as a matter of fact. Komisch für mich - I only saw perhaps 3 decorated Christmas tree. Why so few?

I had my first Glühwein! It is warm, which I didn't know about until I hold the glass. Haha. Me and alcohol knowledge is rather non-existent. I, just drink them XD

I have a really nice bunch of coursemates. They have been super nice to me despite my bad Deutsch. It was a good hangout day, to know them a lil bit more :)

Snow schnee snow

I had a dream, that I slipped from the slippery ground caused by snow and fell on my hands.
Had frost bite on my knees and hands.They were so red and hurt so much :(

Brocolli love

When you run out of idea of what to eat, you take 2 of your favourite food and eat them together .

Brocolli 

Cheese

1. Boil the cut-brocolli in hot water .
2. Put salt and black pepper in the boiling water - 1 tea spoon.
3. Once the brocolli is soft, chopstick the brocolli out from the port into a bowl.
4. Sprinkle cheese all over the steaming brocolli and mix.

PS: I am still hungry though. LoL.

Comfortable ... too comfortable

I have this dilemma now about my studies in German. B1 is my level of German, apparently , because we are learning B1 stuff.  I decided to sign up for A2 extra classes to strenghten my basics.  reason because I self studied to pass the DSH entrance test. My basics? Shaky, rocky. Not good.

Honestly, I feel very comfortable in the A2 class, I did learn new things but minimal. Will I drop this A2 class? Let's see.. how today's class progresses.

"When one becomes too comfortable, they become lazy. "

And lazy is my middle name.

The A2 speaking class? I only learn vocab in my first class. I would prefer if the teacher gave us themes to work on for a short presentation every week. So I might not attend the next class despite my speaking is bad. Let's see. Maybe I will give it one more shot in the next class. The class ends at 7PM! @...@

PS : I am beginning to adore (crave) homework for some weird reason.

Today is my first class for B1, I hope I learn much more than the DSH classes. Or else, B2 class, here I come.

Schnee

27th Oct : It snowed! Well it's more of rain snow. The ground wasn't filled with snow, it was just wet. I was getting excited to build a snowman. Then........

28th Oct : Which is today, the sky is blue and no signs of snow rain (or maybe I speak too soon, I have the power to jynx stuff by the way). Germany's weather is really unpredictable - It snow rain the whole day yesterday and today? Nevertheless, I am appreciating the sun and warmth while it last :)

Do you know the series Big Bang Theory, the character Sheldon Cooper? Ring a bell maybe? Well, I found someone who looks like him in the Voice Season 3! Oh My God! You have no idea how big my mouth had open. LoL.

I hope one day, Big Bang Theory would make a parody episode of Sheldon going for a singing audition. I would LOVE to see that , I think I might giggle my heart out.

A student again

First day in class! 

And I was late for class for 5 minutes! Should I explain myself? I think I should because... 

First encounter :

As I was getting the one way ticket at the ticketing machine, the coin wouldn't go in. Of all days, my first day to class. Yay! I know of this problem because the kid before me was facing the same problem also. When my ticket was finally printed, the S-Bahn waved bye bye to me. The S-bahn was supposed to leave after 1 minute, as according to its schedule BUT it went off anyway! =.= 

What I could have done differently? Leave the room earlier by 5-10 minutes.

No, I can't get the ticket a day before because it is valid for 1.5 hours upon ticket printed. 

Second encounter:

Well, this was entirely my fault since I was being a noob, reading the train (U-bahn) connection wrongly. Took the wrong train but realise it when I got up on the train BUT it moved already, lol. 

Dearest self, please take the train heading to Rathenauplatz aite.

Hassle panicky day that could have been avoided. 

There were 11 of us in the class. The lecturer is 44 but she doesn't look like her age at all!
Today's class comprised of self introduction, A2 grammar practices... not stressful yet at the moment though I have to get used to listening to solely Deutsch. 

Some furious students threw some drama in the beginning of the class because they think they were eligible for B2 class instead of the A2/B1. I wish they would approach the lecturer after the class as it is unfair for the rest of us who wants to learn Deutsch . Oh wells, maybe I would have react the same way if I were in their shoes. 

Ok, time to do my homework like a good student. Lol! 

DSH !

To be eligible to be part of the DSH course, I have to take a test... and I passed it! :)

This was possible with moral support from family and closest friends. And of course with much care, support and help by dearest Mr J.

My wish, that I made in 2011, to be here in Germany in 2012, to be with Mr J, came true. It is no longer a dream. I am so grateful , happy and loved at the moment.

Classes are starting tomorrow.
Now, to keep working hard. Tschuss!

Ella the Nutella

I finally bought a Nutella bottle with 450 g and store her in the shelf.
Her big brother 825 g? I was really close to getting it but thinking of the very long time Mr J and I would take to finish it, I pick 450 g.

Ella has been b.a,d., e..v..i..l.., calling me from time to time to snack on her.

On a Sunday morning, as I check through Facebook, you see the picture above ? It was shining so bright, ... warm and cosy, feels. just. like. heaven.

Nutella aka Ella :- heard my callings and even recommend on ways to indulge on her. How could she right? Mr J and I fell for it and tried.

O H ! S O De Li Cious! 

Whats missing ? Marshmallows. Too bad the stores are closed on Sundays, otherwise I would have bought a small packet and dip them in my cup.

The weighing scale who has been nice and comforting to me for the past 3 weeks, has decided to wake me up with the number shown.

Restless

It has been 2 weeks since I am here.

Right now I have the urge to walk down 5 floors and then walk back up again to hear myself breathing out loud, to work my legs. I miss my fast beating heart.

I am feeling so uneasy without exercise. I, don't feel fit. And weak.

Dropped by at NettoMarkt earlier but left empty handed. When I reach the fifth floor, where I live, I did not pant to catch my breath and I actually feel good.

So, should I walk down ? My mind say YES, DO IT!
Maybe after a few more exercises.

I used to cycle about 15 minutes 4-5 times a week at home, which explains my current restless-ness.

Green Tea Latte

Leider, they do not have Green Tea latte here which is sad news for me.

Nevertheless, I have my very own barista Mr J to make me one today. It taste SO good, just like Starbucks'! I might be bias.

Mr J took so much effort to get the ingredients despite him having a flu. I feel so loved.

Finger Nails

There I was on the S-bahn , heading somewhere in town.

Sounds ridiculous don't you think? I find it to be one.

My nail was neatly cut few days ago. In my mind, I was glad I actually cut my nails before the spotcheck! LOL. Sounds high school-ish.

I had alil argument with the conductor as one of my nails was sticking out alil and I got fined from it! Gah. Wanted to run away  when the conductor was trying to catch one kid.

Concidence : Mr J came home with a cut on his finger. I am not too sure if I had this finger nail dream before or after he showed me his plaster :/

Nasi Kukus

Translated as steamed rice.

I would recommend you to try "Kak Nora's Nasi Kukus Ayam Berempah" , its the yummiest nasi kukus I have tried so far.

The steamed rice, the fried marinated chicken, the acar, the sauce. Oh! Heaven! Something to die for.
Finger licking good. The portion is rather big and the taste, satisfying!

I was sad (and still am) that I could not taste it one last time before I came here. So if you happen to eat it, take an extra bite for me aite.

The Avengers

So we were watching Deutsch TV at night and I tried my best to catch what they're talking about. But with images and body languages, I could guess what was going on.

As time pass, we browse through all the television channels and there was nothing interesting on air so we decided to watch a movie instead.

The Avengers! 

Its a very old movie, and I just watched it.

When the movie started for the first 15 minutes, I felt like I could not understand English at all. Lol.
I guess my mind was in the midst of transitioning from Deutsch to English. My first weird encounter :/

Overall Avengers was alright with humors throughout the movie. I wish there was more of Hulk! The Hulk was so amusing and I understand now why so many people was talking about him on Facebook when the movie was released.

Hawk-eye was so overly confident if you ask me. Tony Stark, sarcastic, as always ; still my favourite character. Robin (character from How I Met Your Mother) was starring in the movie! I can't take her character seriously though.

A good way to end a Sunday night :)

Garlic

An extra taste I love to add when I am eating rice; a new eating habit I took in recently.

During dinner, dad and mum usually would put garlic and chilli and mix them with soysauce in the sauce plate. Dad would usually offer but I would decline.

At a bak kut teh lunch with colleagues, my eyebrow cringed as I saw Terry mixing some garlic, chilli and thick soysauce in her rice. Being curious & confused, I asked her why is she doing that. LoL. Terry said I should give it a try . Its gonna taste REALLY good.

Alil reluctant (with face expression showing) to try at first but Terry was so convincing. There and then, my rice eating habits have changed.

If there's garlic and/or chilli, my ritual are as below:-
1. Mix garlic, chilli and soysauce in the sauce plate
2. Pour mixture in my rice
3. Stir and ensure they're segregated well

Though the above ritual is recommended for bak kut teh , I do it every time anyway for my meals with rice :P

Even today when I was heating up rice, I decided to fry garlic and onion with it. Taste super good!  Schmeckt lecker!

Hobby

- something we talked about over beer.

It made me realise that I do not have a hobby for a very long time since I started working. How sad, I know.

Well I used to like blogging; about everything and anything but it was tiring at work, I couldn't find the motivation to do it. When I reach home , I just want to lay on the couch and watch television with mummy dearest.

Sleeping was my best reward , and it still is.

Since I am be here for studies, I would have time to look for a new hobby and engaged it more.
Maybe something with flowers? Do I have green fingers like dad?
Or try to jog at the lake in the park? The park here is beautiful! I love gazing at the ducks swimming their way through the lake. It's so peaceful to me.

So new goal this year : Search for a new hobby!

Mooncake

festival falls on 30th September this year and I won't be at home to keep my parents company.

Mum suggested to decorate the room with paper lantern.
The looks on my dad was alil heartbreaking for me to handle :(

"Dearest mooncake in the fridge, please keep my heart warm aite. Don't let homesick strike me too soon? "

PS: A running sushi buffet over lunch cost me 2 KG's but it went away the next morning. Phew.

Altstadt Festival

A local celebration to welcome Autumn (der Herbst).
I wasn't aware of this festival until last week when Mr J receive a sms from an old friend to meet up.

There were locals wearing traditional clothes, banners up in the city. No live performance or whatsoever, just everyone gathered together and have a meal mit Bier, natürlich. Too bad we had a quickie dinner coz the food looks really yummy.

It was nice to see a familiar face again in the town and meeting his gal :)

Love the night view in Nuremberg, so pretty here. Shall post up a picture the next time.

PS: I had my first Currywurst which is a typical German food that I have not tried over my last stays here (at least I dont remember having one xD).

I brought Autumn

to Nuremberg.

It was sunny the days before I arrive here - 12 September. Bummer.
Ms Autumn here has been kind to me and I am thankful for that. Alil windy and rainy at times but still cosy in the night.

Growing up in a hot country makes me prefer hot weather though I prefer the cold air conditioning.
You could grab your sleeveless shirt, t-Shirt, shorts, skirts , put them on and off you go.
I have to get used to wearing layers of clothes before heading out, otherwise I'll be trembling in cold. Brrrr.

PS: I am really tempted to buy ALL the pretty scarfs I see here. Argh! But I have resisted it with success so far. Kudos to me LOL.

Mc Donald's

Ola! I know, I should have other interesting stuff to write about instead of Mc Donald's. But my mind is thinking about it.

McD here, do not serve ketchup or chilli sauce with the burgers! Why? My McChicken doesn't taste the same anymore. Pouts.

Oh, speaking of which , I miss my chilli sauce very much although I don't eat fast food that often back home. It's that taste that perfects my burger you know. I was supposed to pack chilli sauce in my luggage before I came here but I couldn't find time to grab them from McD back home; which was 5 minutes drive away from home.

Mayonnaise, is all that we get to eat with fries here. No refill Coke also!

Went to bed around 9.30 yesterday, oops xD I was alil tired this weeeeekkkkkk.

I actually dreamt about my lil crush of mine. So surprised and the dream felt so real! :D

Here's the dream-line like:-

We had a company dinner in Genting and the theme was about long jeans & casual look. As I arrive in Genting, I heard his singing and was excited that he was there to meet up with his fans, signing autographs etc.!

You cannot imagine how excited I was in the dream. AND he dyed his hair red!! I don't know whats' with the hair colour, so anyway.

Me and my colleagues decided to ditch the company dinner and just hang around him. I feel so under-dressed compared to other fans. LOL.

It was then our turn to get our album and poster to be autographed. I was blushing so much and could only smile. No greetings, no questions. AHHH!!!

One relaxing movie I would say, to end the week of working :)

You can't even say no to this temptation, cos you'll regret it. Haha.

This year, the office table in front of me is filled with food from hampers my company received.
I can snack all the time if I want to xD
Super convenient for me to just stretch my hands and just munch.
There's biscuits , chocolates, crackers , sweets. A variety to choose from & you won't get bored, maybe.
I wander when are they gonna be finished. Ugh.

PS: I didn't snack on them yet. I am so proud of myself to resist this temptation XD

Ice Age - 7 Continentals

Noob Day

I feel like one today. Was out to meet old friends at Sg Wang today. And guess what? I learn something new today. Though bro called me a noob because he knew about it already. He calls everyone noob anyway.

Why am I a noob you say? Well, I didn't know that I could actually take the LRT from Taman Jaya and then stop at Dang Wangi. From there, take a monorail from Bkt Nanas to Bkt Bintang. It took only like 30-35 minutes to reach Sg Wang!!

IF only I knew about this in 2008. I was doing my internship in Parkroyal back then for 2 months. EVERYDAY, I would take the KTM from Subang to KL Central then take the monorail to Bkt Bintang. That was a hell of an experience if you ask me. Public transportation. Sardine. 1 hour of waiting after a day of work. Oh man! Why I didn't know of this? @___@ Better late then never? Bleh. =.=

I found about this new route when I went to the ticket counter at Taman Jaya & was told about it.

So ladies and gentleman, don't be a noob like me. Please pick LRT and Monorail over KTM anytime. Thank you.

La' Glace

With hungry dramas going on on Facebook earlier, I finally eaten my breakfast with 2 besties.

It then turn into brunch + tea time. ROFL.

"Lets SnowFlakes!"

We were walking along SS15 - the 'dessert street' and decided to try something new.

Then La' Glace came into the picture. Frozen yoghurt and doughnut. Sounds like a treat.

"Lets put all the toppings"

"Wander how it taste like"

"I dont know too. Never tried that", says the person who served us.

The yoghurt is healthy but not with the 6 toppings and Hershey's chocolate syrup we were about to sprinkle onto our yoghurt.

We were greedy people. Well , they mention we can put any toppings we wanted. There was like 20-30 toppings to pick from! It wasn't our fault really. They look so tempting. Should request for more fresh fruits in our yoghurt the next time though.

End of last week, I screw up a project. Luckily the boss help out with her network & problem solving skills. It was solved, just in a nick of time. Phew. Barely breath throughout the period, but phew. Now, she will remember very well how 2011 ended, for her. How 'awesome' right.

This week, history repeated, minor issue. What involved this time? Extra cost.

Extra cost = less profit = less bonus.

Shit happens. And we learn from it. It trains up your critical decision making skills. Make the best decision at that time for the best result.

is when you left your car keys in someone's car. Then realised it when you're about to go home.

Pity her, having to drive back all the way to pass me the keys, haiz.

Due to changing climate; durian season is all year round.

Dad was/in in the durian harvesting mood! Its been 3 weeks in a row since there's durian at home. *burps* Oops, sorry.

Durian can be really filling & it stoinks up your breath @_@ like stink bomb.

Anyways,

What is worse? You wake up with your room smell like durian; which can be HORRIBLE!

Speaking of which, I am missing Yik Kee's durian tart in Karak! Ah, heaven @_@

I prefer mangosteen over durian. *noms noms*
